A live-action Naruto movie is actually moving now. Lionsgate opened a worldwide casting search in July 2026 for Team 7 — Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura — looking for actors in their late teens with martial arts experience, ahead of filming that's set to begin January 2027.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi, the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day) was first attached back in February 2024, co-writing the screenplay with Tasha Huo, with original creator Masashi Kishimoto still involved in the project. It's been a long road to an actual casting call.

Figuarts Zero's take on the moment Naruto first pulled off the Rasengan — Tsunade and Jiraiya included in the effect work — is a good reminder of why the property was worth adapting in the first place. CDJapan's listing is sold out direct, reachable now only through their Proxy Shopping Service.
