A Famicom archivist known as "Orochi" conducted an undercover investigation and found that a Japanese love hotel had installed fully-functional Famicombox units — Nintendo's 1986 commercial 8-bit console for hotels, holding up to 16 cartridges — in nearly every room, with almost all the built-in games still playable. The discovery went viral in retro-gaming circles and reignited interest in Famicom-era hardware.
