The square Baby-G has been one of Casio's steadiest sellers, but by 2022 the case was starting to look oversized against smaller wrists. Casio's fix, announced that February, was the BGD-565/BGD-565S series: the same familiar square silhouette shrunk by 2.6mm in length, 2.1mm in width, and 1.2mm in thickness, with a resin case and band that keep the whole watch to around 30 grams.
This BGD-5650-1CJF wears that redesign in matte black. It skips the Tough Solar and Multiband 6 radio-sync found on higher-end Baby-G models, running instead on a simple, low-maintenance quartz movement — while keeping the 200-meter water resistance and shock resistance the line is built on.
